Women’s soccer advances with a spot in the Big South Tournament by having tiebreakers over Campbell and Longwood.

In the last game of the season, the Radford women’s soccer team took a trip down to Rock Hill, S.C., to play Big South rival Winthrop.

Radford had already clinched a spot in the Big South Tournament by having tiebreakers over Campbell and Longwood.

Radford’s defense limited Winthrop to only two shots on goal during the first half.

Before half-time, Kateri Schoettinger scored in the 41 minute to give Radford a 2-0 lead at the half.

The second half showed a dominant performance from the Radford defense as the Highlanders once again limited Winthrop to only two shots on goal.

Katelyn O’Donnell added the icing to the cake with a goal in the 84 minute, the first goal in her collegiate career.

The Highlanders ran the remaining time off the clock to win the game, 3-0.

Radford improves to 7-2-1 for the season with a Big South record of 6-2-1. Radford finishes second in the Big South behind undefeated High Point.

The next game for the Highlanders is against third-seeded Campbell at Cupp Stadium on April 13 after press time and will be featured in next week’s edition.

The winner of this game will move on to the Big South Tournament finals against the winner of Longwood versus High Point. That game will be played on April 16.
