The baseball team’s road trip to The University of Virginia has been cancelled due to weather conditions. Radford was set to leave early Tuesday afternoon to take on a struggling UVA team who just this week fell out of the national rankings. Radford is coming off a twelve game win streak that was just snapped this past Sunday when they lost 9-3 at home against Big South foe, Winthrop.

In the Radford-Virginia series, the Cavaliers lead 18-4-1. Last years game was also cancelled due to rain. In 2013, Radford gave UVA its only midweek loss with a 9-8 victory. While in 2012 UVA beat Radford 3-2. Since 2004 UVA leads the series 7-1 with the current coaching staff.

The Highlanders have a team ERA of 3.97 and have recorded a .280 team batting average. Senior Josh Gardiner leads RU with a .396 batting average and 13 doubles on the season. Gardiner is also Big South player of the week which was announced yesterday.

Radford is currently 36th in the nation for RPI (rating percentage index) where they have moved up a spot from last week. UVA is holding onto the 45th position.

Radford is looking to take sole position on top of the Big South this Friday when they head to Coastal Carolina who both have a 10-2 record in the Big South.
