The role of a Photographer

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions. All of our contact information is back on the Contact/Jobs page. – EIC

  • As a Photographer, you are responsible for owning a professional camera or a high-quality camera on a mobile device.
  • The main goal for Photographers is to be assigned to help a Staff Writer or Editor take photos for their story that they are writing, it’s possible that you will be assigned to someone during the Monday meetings.
  • Photographers are required to have 10 or more photos to send to the Managing Photographer every week.
  • All photos must be edited, captioned, and turned in on Saturday nights by 11:59 p.m. unless said otherwise.
  • Plagiarism is dishonest and unacceptable, even with images!
  • There are weekly Monday meetings from 3:30 to 4:30 PM which are mandatory for Photographers to attend for ideas, comments, assignments and tons of other information.
  • Photographers must keep in contact with the Photography Manager weekly (We use the Slack app).
    • Photographers will be placed in all channel’s in the Slack app, as they provide help for each section.
  • Photographers are encouraged to take their own pictures as well, which The Tartan can make as a gallery on the website and/or in the newspaper.
  • Photographers might be asked to use social media and occasionally help with events on campus to promote The Tartan.
  • Our Flickr account: flickr.com
  • The editor-in-chief has the right to change, takeaway, or alter any of the duties mentioned above.
