Bunker down Highlanders! We are in a for a long night, as the potential for flooding, high winds, and an isolated tornado threat for Radford and the New River Valley are on the way.

According to the National Weather Service from Blacksburg, Va, there will be a tornado watch until 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019, a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:45 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019, and a flood advisory until 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2019.

Heavy rain and high winds will be an issue as a powerful storm system will be impacting much of southwest and eastern Virginia areas. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain just below 1 inch, and winds are expected to linger into Monday. The severity of the storms should diminish after 3:00 a.m. Monday, with the tornado watch lasting until 5:00 a.m.

As we go into the rest of the week, we will start to see increasing sunshine and mild temperatures, with another chance of showers by the upcoming weekend.
