Among all of the great eats in our area, Rocas Mexican Grill, with its great atmosphere and excellent food, stands out as a terrific Mexican restaurant in the Radford area.

Rocas is in Fairlawn, VA right off of Lee Highway. It’s on the right side of the road after Nesselrod on the New just as soon as you are leaving Radford and going across the bridge. This restaurant has been in this area for quite some time now.

As soon as you sit down, you’ll start your meal off with a basket of tortilla chips, fresh salsa, and white house sauce, like any other Mexican restaurant.

They have all of the essential Mexican inspired classics with options like salads, pork, chicken, vegetarian, steak, and seafood. They’ve got appetizers like nachos and desserts like fried ice cream.

They also have a kid’s menu for ten and under and do lunch, dinner, and carryout.

I ate at Rocas for my first time on Oct. 5. I ordered the cheese dip to eat with my chips, which is an extra add-on. It was good and fresh.

For my main entrée, I ordered Arroz Con Pollo, ACP for short, which is chicken slices that come with onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, and rice topped with cheese. I ordered my entrée with no vegetables. It was a delicious and fresh meal. The whole experience was good, and the atmosphere was laid back.

The restaurant set up is enjoyable; it can be a casual lunch or a fancy date with a partner. The prices are all reasonable, and the meal I ordered was big enough to share.

My waitress was so nice. She accommodated me by going over the menu with her favorites to help me make a good choice. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. You don’t always see a restaurant acting as one – sharing the same attitude.

They do have handicap accommodations, such as a ramp on the left side of the building.

Rocas also offers a wide range of alcoholic beverages with a full bar. The alcoholic menu is not online, but there is a menu at every table for convenience.

Rocas has three current locations in the surrounding areas. Their other two locations are Nitro, WV, and Charlestown, WV.

Rocas is excellent for students attending Radford University, who want to have a fun night out or an affordable dinner. I would recommend stopping by to eat here just to say you have. You may even go back for seconds!

Their hours are Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday, 12 a.m. – 9 p.m.
