On Tuesday, March 15, Radford University student Jonah Barbour, 22, passed away. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at the Friends Meeting House in Blacksburg, Virginia.

He was a member of Sigma Pi.

According to his girlfriend, Radford University student Shannon Plante, Barbour won the Outstanding Student of the Year Award last spring. She said he was incredibly proud of this accomplishment. Barbour was studying to become a physical therapist.

“He was motivated and driven,” Plante said. “He touched everyone he met. He could just sit down with anyone and connect. He was so charming and charismatic.”

The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to SUWS of the Carolinas, 363 Graphite Rd., Old Fort, NC 28762.
