Presidential Search update

Last Updated on

As Radford University prepares for the retirement of President Kyle in 2016, the Presidential Search Committee is busy searching for the next President.

The Presidential Search Committee are in the process of narrowing down the search. The Presidential Search Committee was created by the Board of Visitors (BOV) and is made up of a diverse group of BOV members, faculty, staff, administration, students, and alumni.

The search committee was created to help the Board of Visitors make a choice with feedback from the diverse group. The ultimate goal of the committee is to recommend two to five candidates for the presidential search.

To aid the BOV and the Presidential Search Committee a professional search firm that specializes in higher education has been hire. The firm is called Greenwood/Asher and Associates, Inc. The search firm will be responsible for advertising the position, checking references, and conducting background checks.

The Committee plans to begin reviewing application later on in the fall semester. The interviews will be kept confidential during the process because the candidate’s current positions may require so. The confidentiality of the process will draw in a more diverse group of candidates that may have not applied if it was public.

The most recent meeting was on July 22nd. It was held to discuss the Committee’s role in the search. The role is to recommend the skills, experiences and qualifications that they hope to see in a future President. The also discussed strategies for finding the communities opinions on the selection.

The committee has decided to hold forums to gather Radford University’s perspectives on the future President. The forums will be open to faculty, staff, students, and alumni to try to gather as many opinions as possible.

The first of these forums will be held on September 21st and 22nd. The times of the meetings vary depending on the group. The times for the forums can be found at:

As the Presidential Search continues, there will be more updates.
