On Saturday, Feb. 11, the world lost yet another legend, strong woman and vocal inspiration, Whitney Houston. According to Huffington Post, Houston was found dead in the bathtub of the Beverly Hilton Hotel around 3:30 p.m. There is no still no reason, according to authorities, to suggest any foul play in Houston’s death, and the cause of death is still unknown. Known or not, the world came to a halt with the feeling of shock and awe as the news poured in from all different sources.
Many may remember some of Houston’s famous hits such as “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and “I Will Always Love You.” Her voice was and still is a beacon of inspiration for many aspiring women in the industry today. Though Houston was also notoriously known for her drug abuse and erratic behavior, the world still mourns for such a great loss in music history. People still love to listen and lip sync the words to her music, as well as dance to some of her greatest hits.
Even our youthful generation remembers her and some of her more memorable moments. She was a woman with pure talent who proved that people could still get by in the industry with talent alone.
We at The Tartan give our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the famous singer, and will truly miss not only a vocal queen but the legend known as Whitney Houston.
