McConnell Library is currently seeking out media and materials to archive related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.
An email sent out from Allison Armstrong, the Collection Management Librarian, states, “This project seeks to collect material from the Radford University and Radford University Carilion communities, including our alumni and the surrounding area.”Students, alumni, and community members are encouraged to submit their media through the McConnell Library page.
As noted in their email, the plan is to create an online archive to “preserve and provide access to materials received.”
The library is looking for photographs, audio recordings, videos, and “other relevant media,” as also noted in Armstrong’s email, such as text media, PDFs, Word documents, and other things that will aid the collection and preservation process.
Students, alumni, and community members are encouraged to submit their media through the McConnell Library page. The library maintains that it will be the “heart of the collection,” in the email’s closing lines.
