Crash leaves student in intensive care

On Tuesday, Oct. 6 at approximately 8 p.m. a Radford University student was reported in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle.
The victim, a 19 year old RU student from Christiansburg, Va was struck at the crossing of Jefferson Street and Downey street, according to the Radford City Police Department. The victim’s identity has not released.
The vehicle involved in the incident was a 2002 Jeep Wrangler driven by Julie Anne Ruhe of Monrovia, Md,. She has been charged with one count of reckless driving, according to RCDP. According to the release speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Ruhe was not injured in the incident
The victim was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she is listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit, according to RCPD.
