As the fall semester comes to an end, students who live on campus should be aware of some of their dorms’ closing procedures.

The fall 2020 semester will conclude Friday, Nov. 20. Students must vacate their dorms 24 hours after their last final or when their dorm closes, whichever event happens first.

According to Resident Director Joshua Rosa, the following information will come into effect in the coming weeks:

Students will have their card-swipe access revoked when the dorms close, until the start of spring semester 2021 in mid-January.

Students will have their card-swipe access revoked when the dorms close, until the start of spring semester 2021 in mid-January.

As far as preparing for a break, students are responsible for turning off all lights and faucets in their dorms, unplugging all electrical devices, and packing all their necessary items for the break.

As well, students should defrost their fridges if they have one. Students are responsible for unplugging the refrigerator, leaving the door open, and placing their fridge in their shower or placing a towel at the front to absorb moisture. Students should also remove all food before the break.

Students should also remove all trash, make sure rooms are clean, place screens back in windows, and make sure windows are closed and locked.

Campus staff will be ensuring the buildings are empty, inspecting health and safety standards, and confirming no resources are being wasted (running water, open windows, etc.)

Students must vacate buildings on time, lest they risk trespassing violations and violations with the Office of Student Standards and Conduct.
