Spring break can be so much fun when you’re a kid. It comes with the promise of decent weather, candy and egg hunts. The songs you sing in school can be pretty fun too but as we get older it becomes more about the location, especially in college. All those spring break movies may have you think that you need to travel outside of the country to have fun but that’s not always the case. Here are some of my top picks for traveling within the U.S. during spring break.

First, Honolulu- Hawaii is a very beautiful island, the weather varies depending which part of the island you are at. When people visit they are most likely to come here due to all the sunshine and nice beaches. The weather right now is getting somewhat warmer but it can’t beat the nice hot sun in Honolulu. They also have great Luau’s, fun museums to visit, great fruit markets, and other fun tourist attractions.

Second, Miami- I’ve always wanted to go to Miami and not just because that’s where Pitbull resides. It has many fun tourist attractions. You can visit the Coral Castle, a stone structure created by Latvian American eccentric Edward Leedskalnin located in Leisure City. You could also visit Jungle Island, a tropical attraction with exotic animals but it’s only open from 10a.m. – 5p.m. so make sure you can drop by so you don’t miss all the excitement. Another thing you could do is visit the Venetian Pool or even the Perez Art Museum just to name a few.

Third, LA – This city has excellent weather and palm trees all around. The climate is perfect for some major outdoor activities. Here is where Disney Land is located. I would imagine that it was just a smaller version of Disney World. Some of the rides include, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, It’s a small world and many more. You can also check out the Universal Studios Theme Park. Here you will be able to see Shrek in 4-D, View the water world stunt show, or even ride Revenge of the Mummy. Also if you’re into art why not visit the Getty center? It has amazing art work and a beautiful garden. For those of you who were looking for some ghostly adventure as well try visiting the Hollywood Hills which is proclaimed to be haunted.

Last but not least, New York City –  Who would not love such a wonderful city? The possibilities there are endless. You will be able to visit the Statue of Liberty; I hear the view is amazing from the crown. The Metropolitan Museum of Art sounds fascinating as well, it has great Ancient Egyptian artifacts and great portraits as well. Another good place to go is Times Square. If you’re having a restless night with nothing to do this is the best place to go. There are bright lights, Broadway show, and maybe even some street performers. In this city it may be hard to get bored because it’s the city that never sleeps.
