With six weeks left in the fall semester, Radford University sent an email, Oct. 6, of the Spring 2021 Semester Operational Plan Executive Summary.

According to the plan, Radford University intends to reopen campus a week early in the spring. This reopening will allow students to move back safely, similar to the start of the 2020 fall semester.

Radford University intends to reopen campus a week early in the spring.

During the week of Jan. 13-17, 2021, students moving back to campus will have to schedule a day and time to participate in surveillance testing through Radford University’s Health Center in partnership with Carilion Clinic.

According to the plan, testing will be a requirement only for those coming from hotspot areas. All students will also have to complete a travel declaration form to help with the move-in process.

According to the plan, Radford will send more information regarding a sign-up day to return to campus out Dec. 15. Those traveling from COVID-19 hotspots will receive further instructions by email Jan. 8. Radford will return all of the test results by the first day of classes, Jan. 19.

Two weeks before returning to campus, students, faculty, and staff will be required to continue completing the Daily Symptom Tracker in their OneCampus account, according to the plan.

The university says they will continue to enforce COVID-19 guidelines. These guidelines include, but are not limited to, wearing face coverings, maintaining physical distance, and classrooms maintaining the 50 person capacity guideline.

According to the plan, for future events on-campus, if Radford University starts to see a decline in cases, and students continue to abide by rules, gatherings of 10 could increase to 100 by the end of the spring semester.

The university says they will continue to enforce COVID-19 guidelines.

Commencement for the graduating class of 2020 and 2021 is the week of April 29-May 2, 2021. Commencement will be in-person and take place at the university and Radford University Carilion in Roanoke – while abiding with state and university mandates, both graduating classes will have separate days and times to celebrate, according to the plan.
